Hydrogen-assisted fracture and related degradation problems can be investigated as coupled studies, where the evolving chemical field and the mechanical response are solved together. The result is a single, consistent picture of where and why a material degrades — from crack-growth kinetics in aluminium alloys to grain-level chemo-mechanics in battery cathodes.
